I volunteered for four years at the Juvenile Justice Center in South Bend, Indiana. There was such a race divide, it was unbelievable. The white kids from the wealthier neighborhoods such as Granger were never ever there for “crimes” such as truancy and smoking pot but poor black kids always were. There were also serial offenders that were in there 10, 12, 14 times. And you’d think the system would realize that it just wasn’t working and they needed something more.
